Baisley Takes Over Poughkeepsie Supervisor Duties, Plans Fall Run

Jon Baisley, who represents the first ward, was given the go-ahead Wednesday to take over for Todd Tancredi, who has left his post as town supervisor to head Dutchess County’s Office of the Aging.

Tancredi officially was appointed to the county position Monday. He takes over for Mary Kaye Dolan, who recently retired.

Baisley said Friday he intends to run in a special election this fall to fill the remainder of Tancredi’s term.

Whomever wins the 2016 contest also would – if they want to remain supervisor – have to run in November 2017 when Tancredi’s term officially expires.

Baisley, who said his official title will remain deputy supervisor, said he will waive his $9,900 councilman’s salary and the $2,000 stipend he received as deputy supervisor.

However, Baisley said, he will accept the $67,000 salary Tancredi received as supervisor.

Thanking the board for allowing him to step in for Tancredi, Baisley said he was “humbled to have the support of the board and the residents going forward.”
